February 14 15, 1895, Houston and Beaumont, Texas both recorded a whopping 20 inches of wet snow! A combination of arctic air from
the north and moist air from the Gulf of Mexico resulted in astronomical snow
accumulations across southeast Texas and southern Louisiana. This storm occurred during a
year when portions of Galveston Bay were reported to have frozen over. For more information on our worldwide forecasts, contact Jeff Royed at 713-430-7400 or Rhonda LaVergne at 318-237-5600 or visit our website at www.wilkensweather.com. |
