On February 14 – 15, 1895, Houston and Beaumont, Texas both recorded a whopping 20 inches of wet snow! A combination of arctic air from the north and moist air from the Gulf of Mexico resulted in astronomical snow accumulations across southeast Texas and southern Louisiana. This storm occurred during a year when portions of Galveston Bay were reported to have frozen over.
