A veteran Wilkens
Weather employee, David began his career with us in 1989 after graduating with a BS in
Atmosphere Science from Ohio State University. He
maintains the "severe weather clients," and the database allowing Wikens Weather
to swiftly notify via phone, fax, telex, or e-mail when severe weather can be expected. On
the management side, David trains new Wilkens Weather employees and coordinates the
shifts. David is also an active member of the American Meteorological Society.
David explains that there is never a dull moment in weather,
especially in the hurricane season when the frenzy of client calls begin. Davids
intrigue with weather as a child growing up in Sandusky, Ohio has developed into a
fulfilling career. "I have always loved the weather and followed it all the time in
school," says David. "I did many science projects concerning weather
forecasting. In college I was the assistant to the State Climatologist of Ohio, and was
the on-air meteorologist for WOSU public radio." David explains that there is never a
dull moment in weather, especially in the hurricane season when the frenzy of client calls
begin.
