Rudy became intrigued with the world of weather during his college years while learning to fly a Cessna 150. He was so amazed with the role weather played in flight that he changed his major to meteorology. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from the State University of New York’s College at Oneonta, he worked for AccuWeather as a staff meteorologist and then moved on to Wilkens Weather in 1981.

Times have changed during those 15 years, but Rudy still finds enjoyment in keeping clients well informed of inclement weather. With his fluency in Spanish, he has helped expand Wilkens Weather’s client base to include many companies in Latin America, as well as to add map-making to the list of services. Wilkens Weather currently produces weather maps for some of Mexico’s leading newspapers.
