Mark Walquist
Meteorologist

Mark was first introduced to the world of weather by an uncle, who was a meteorologist for the National Weather Service and later the FAA. On visits, his uncle brought weather charts and maps for Mark to study and explore. That interest grew over the years, leading Mark to select meteorology as a major at the University of Michigan.

With his bachelor’s degree in hand, Mark ventured to Houston where he was first employed at the Institute for Storm Research. In 1982, he joined Wilkens Weather Technologies and is now one of the veteran meteorologists. "Advancements in technology have really changed the way we do business," Mark explains. "Today, our product can be delivered extremely fast and we can concentrate on what we do best—accurately forecasting the weather."
