Marshall Wickman
MeteorologistAn
introductory earth science class is how Marshall
first discovered his interest in weather. That
fascination grew throughout his childhood and
eventually influenced him to study the subject at
the University of
Michigan, where he earned a bachelors
degree in atmospheric and oceanic sciences.
His first
meteorological position was working part-time for
a Detroit weatherman who forecasted for a local
radio station and area companies. Marshal became
the 6th team member at Wilkens Weather
and after 16 years of service, he still likes
forecasting the weather the best. "Making an
accurate forecast in areas with very little
available data is the most challenging," he
explains. In the end, though, the customer that
appreciates the work and finds the data helpful
is the most gratifying part of his job.
